Renovation of Chemistry C1 Building and Replacement of Fume Hoods at the Faculty of Science and Technology, the University of the West Indies (Uwi), St. Augustine (Phase 1)

The Phase 1 works for this project comprised the refurbishment and expansion of the existing UWI Chemistry C1 Building. The scope included internal demolition at the mezzanine and roof levels, along with partial demolition of the existing Services Building. Remedial works were undertaken to reconfigure the structural frame at the mezzanine level to accommodate a new seminar room and office, as well as the refurbishment of existing office spaces, including floor, wall, and ceiling finishes. The Services Building was expanded to provide new male and female washroom facilities on Levels 1 and 2, in addition to new rooms for equipment and storage. The project also involved the construction of a bridge link between the Services and Chemistry Buildings, upgrades to service installations, and external works including drainage, fencing, and supporting infrastructure.
